Block 5 - Week 1 Recap

This week has been a true test of my endurance.  I did a 4000 meter swim on Monday, breaking my swim distance record. Wednesday I did a 16 mile run, the longest run of my Ironman training thus far.  Lastly, on Saturday I biked on my trainer for 5 hours, or about 90 miles, my longest bike ride to date.

This week has also made me very nervous about the Ironman.  How am I going to finish?  Better yet, how am I going to SURVIVE?  When I finished that 16 mile run, I could barely walk!  The same thing happened when I finished the 90 mile bike ride.  I am truly nervous.  I just try to keep in mind that other people do it…and, I am only halfway through my training schedule.  I have 17 more weeks till the race.

In other news, I finally got a new pair of shoes.  I LOVE these shoes.  This is the second pair that I have owned.   I ran with them for the first time today, and I noticed a huge difference.  I had more support for my feet and joints, and the bottoms of my feet didn’t get tore up and blistered!

Block 5 - Week 1 Totals:

Swim - 7000 meters

Bike - 144 miles

Run - 29 miles

I hope everyone else’s training is going well.  Today I did a 4200 meter swim and a 5 mile run.  Wednesday is going to be tough…18 miles on a treadmill = Not Fun!
