Block 3 - Week 2 Recap
Maybe I need to make an addendum to the post I made a few days ago. I think I said something about there being no excuses to skip a workout in Ironman training, however, I found a good excuse - Medical School interview! After 10 weeks of training I finally missed a workout, but, I feel like it was a good day to miss. I was still exhausted from my 15 mile run earlier in the week (which I negative split!), and I hadn’t been getting very much sleep either. Most likely I would have pushed myself into injury.
The interview was at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. I absolutely LOVED the school and the program, and I really hope they accept me. I have acceptances from both MSU and Cincinnati’s med schools, and as of right now I am pretty committed to Cinci, but an acceptance at Oakland might end up changing my mind. Still lots to consider!
The down side to the interview and the extra rest was that it will hurt both my Week 2 and Block 3 totals. Friday was supposed to be a medium run (8 miles) and a medium swim (2100 meters), so they will not be included in my totals :*(.
Block 3 - Week 2 Totals:
Swim - 4500 meters (should have been 6600)
Bike - 133 miles
Run - 19.5 miles (should have been 27.5)
