Block 3 - Week 1 Recap
After only one week of training in Block 3, I am already feeling the affects of the increased volume. Combining the extra volume with even less sleep and more stress because of finals, results in greater fatigue. Most triathletes are well acquainted with fatigue. It is an old friend that never completely leaves. However, if fatigue is not properly managed, you can start to see its affects spilling over into other areas of your life.
That is what is happening now, fatigue is starting to take its toll on my body, and it is not good for training. Because of that, I am going to try to get a full 8 hours of sleep tonight, so I can be well rested for my workout tomorrow.
I got Week 2 started today with a 3000 meter long swim, and a 4.5 mile short run.
Block 3 - Week 1 Totals:
Swim - 6100 meters
Bike - 126 miles
Run - 26.5 miles
Happy Training!
Side Note - I just realized that after 9 weeks of training my volume is now approximately double what is was during my first week of training! What is scary is that I’m not even half-way through my schedule!
