Block 2 Recap

Well, I am officially done with Block 2 of my Ironman Texas training schedule.  Eight weeks in and I haven’t missed a workout!  Its kinda sad, but even after eight weeks, I’m still probably not fit enough to finish an Ironman 70.3.  It will take another 4 weeks of training before I can say that.  My neck injury is still nagging me.  I’d say I’m about 75% recovered…but I can’t seem to heal that last 25%.  It is still stiff, and still affects me when I swim and bike; fortunately, it is not enough to inhibit me from completing my workouts!

Block 3 is going to be the most difficult block, I think, mostly because it falls during the last four weeks of the semester!  I am trying to study for finals and write term papers, plus I am graduating in December!  I currently have a 4.0 GPA…and I would HATE to lose that during my last semester of undergrad.  But, Ironman is still a major priority.  I am just going to have to suck it up and put in the time.  I know that the schedule I have made will prepare me for the Ironman, and every workout that I miss will make it that much harder to cross the finish line.  Week 1 of Block 3 starts tomorrow!

Block 2 Totals:

Swim - 17,100 meters

Bike - 341 miles

Run - 70.5 miles

Total Ironman Training Volume To-date:

Swim - 30,250 meters

Bike - 579 miles

Run - 116.5 miles

Happy Training!
